Holidays

he following days are recognized as statutory holidays as listed in the Employment Standards Act:

  • New Year’s Day
  • Good Friday
  • Canada Day
  • Thanksgiving Day
  • Boxing Day
  • Family Day
  • Victoria Day
  • Labour Day
  • Christmas Day

 

Due to customer demands, employees may have to work on holidays. Upon written approval, employees will be entitled to public holiday pay plus premium pay for all hours worked on the public holiday and not receive another day off.

 

In the event that a recognized holiday occurs during an employee’s vacation period, it shall not be counted as a vacation day.

 

VACATIONS MAY NOT BE TAKEN BETWEEN NOVEMBER 1 & DECEMBER 24.

 

In the event that an employee fails to provide reasonable cause for their inability to work, either in part or in full, the last regularly scheduled day prior to the holiday, or the first regularly scheduled day following the holiday, the employee will not be eligible for public holiday pay.

 

Holiday pay is calculated in accordance with Ontario’s Employment Standard Act.
